Join the Program

Joining Made in Montana is free, easy and offers many rewarding benefits for your business.

It is important to note that the Made in Montana program is a certification program for your products, not your company or business.

To be eligible for membership, you must sign a "self-attestation" form in your application that states your product(s) meet the Made in Montana criteria.

Registering online is the fastest and easiest way to submit your application to the Made in Montana program.

Here are some tips for a quick registration process:

Product Categories

As a Producer, you have the option to choose up to 4 categories that relate to the products you are registering.

Retail Stores or Restaurants may choose as many categories as they carry.

For a complete list of product categories and what each entails, see this list.

Product Description

Producers should write down a description of your products in LIST format. You have up to 1,000 characters. Make sure they match your Product Category choices.

Retail Stores and Restaurants put the Made in Montana companies and/or products they carry.

This isn’t the time to write a “flowery” piece about your products. This is the summary description that will be displayed in the search results if you have an online listing. Keep it succinct and to the point. You’ll have a chance to tell your story in the Directory Listing section.

Good Example:
Cherry Juice – made from 100% Flathead Cherries
Cherry Leather Sticks – no sugar added
Fresh Cherries

Poor Example:
We make the best cherry juice ever. It is from our very own trees and we are really proud of them. We also make cherry leather that is guaranteed to give you energy and is filled with antioxidants that will make you look 50 years younger.

Directory Listing

This is the "About Us" section, and your chance to tell the world about your company, your products in general, philosophy, etc.

If you have an online listing this information will appear in the details screen. This is a good place to express yourself and include information we don’t ask for elsewhere in the registration.

Product Photos

Choose up to six (6) photos in jpg format. Make sure they are high-quality and represent your best work. They will need to be a size of 2MB or less to upload.

Good photo subjects can be of your products, your logo, a shot of you producing your work, a shot of your storefront or interior, etc.

Caption your photos with the product name, or short description.

If you don’t have your photos ready yet, you have the option of sending them later.

NOTE: We may edit your photos for clarity. We will not include out-of-focus, discolored, or inappropriate photographs in online listings.

There is no cost to register or become a member of the Made in Montana program. You either register online, or with a fillable form you download and email back to us.

Whichever you do, read the helpful hints below before starting your application. We guarantee it will make the progress go quickly and stress free!

Producers

The product you create or add value to has to be made, grown, or enhanced in the state of Montana, and the end product is worth 50% or more in added value.

Retail Stores/Online Retailers

Must carry a variety of Made in Montana registered products in their regular inventory.

Logos can then be used on interior and exterior signs, posters, and printed materials designating your store carries Made in Montana products. Only producers are eligible to place logos on actual products, however.

Restaurants

Must source locally-produced food or use Made in Montana ingredients.

Please register your restaurant as a 'Retail' location.

This form is a fillable form that you can either complete online and email it to us or print it, fill it out by hand, and mail it to us. If you fill out the form electronically remember to save a copy for your records before emailing it to us.
