  • PRODUCERS

A producer grows or makes particular goods or products.

    ELIGIBILITY

To participate in the Made in Montana program, the product you make or cause to be made, has been made, grown, or created in the state of Montana and the end product is now worth 50% or more in added value.

It is important to note that the Made in Montana program is not a certification program for your company but rather for your products. To be eligible for membership, you must sign an " attestation" form that states that your product meets the Made in Montana product criteria. The statement appears as follows:

"I verify that my products meet the Montana Department of Commerce, Made in Montana Program eligibility criteria of having either been grown, created, or substantially transformed within the state of Montana (and in the case of substantial transformation the value is now 50% or more of the individual parts used in the production process) and that I will only use the logos on products that meet this description as approved by the program"

    LOGO SELECTION

If you are eligible for the program you can then decide which type of logo to use based on your product (logos are displayed on the footer of this page).

    Your choices are as follows:

    • Made in Montana – All qualified producer members are identified primarily as members of the “Made in Montana” program.
    • Grown in Montana – All members growing a product in Montana. The product doesn’t necessarily have to be started in Montana but it does have to be finished here and now have 50% or more added value.
    • Native American Made in Montana – You must be an enrolled member of a Montana tribe currently residing in Montana and meet all other eligibility criteria.

    APPLYING FOR THE PROGRAM

There is no cost to register for the program. You can register either online or by using an electronic fillable form you can download and then email or send to us via the USPS.

Whichever you do, read these hints before starting your application. We guarantee it will make the progress go quickly and stress free!

    TIPS FOR REGISTERING ONLINE

Registering online is the fastest and easiest way to submit your application for the Made in Montana program.

Gather the following information before starting your application:

    1. Product Description

Write down a description of your products in list format. You have up to 1000 characters. This isn’t the time to write a “flowery” piece about your products. This is the summary description that will be displayed in the search results if you have an online listing. Keep it succinct and to the point. You’ll have a chance to tell your story in another section.

      Good Example:
Cherry Juice – made from 100% Flathead Cherries
Cherry Leather Sticks – no sugar added
      Fresh Cherries
      Poor Example:
We make the best cherry juice ever. It is from our very own trees and we are really proud of them. We also make cherry leather that is guaranteed to give you energy and is filled with antioxidants that will make you look 50 years younger.
    2. Company Description

Use this chance to tell the world about your company, your products in general, your philosophy, etc. If you have an online listing this information will appear in the details screen. This is a good place to express yourself and include information we don’t ask for elsewhere in the registration. Again, you have 1000 characters.

    3. Product Photos

Choose up to six (6) in electronic format (jpg). Make sure they are high-quality and represent your best work. Good photo subjects are your products, a logo, a shot of you producing your work, a shot of your storefront or interior. If you don’t have photos yet, you have the option of sending them later. NOTE: We may edit your photos for clarity. We will not include out of focus, discolored, or inappropriate photographs in online listings.
